"Cowards"

Have you ever known a coward? I am not talking about the British author, I mean just an ordinary old "slinking" coward. I didn't think I had ever really met one until recently. The shocking discovery was that I had known this person for 16 years without even suspecting that this person had an inkling of timidity in them. Just goes to show that we don't always know everything about a person. For those of you that may be wondering who this cowardly one is, wait no longer. It is my previous physician. Of all the nerve, just to retire because I had threatened her with bodily harm if she gave me another diagnosis of something that was not on my rather long list.

This resignation required me to get a new physician and I bet you are ahead of me. Yep, the first visit I came away with another addition to my list. After a bone scan, it was determined (just because my spine was almost black) that I have osteoporisis of the spine. So another pill, another dollar, another ailment. Oh well, I will do with it what I have done with the rest and that is to take my pill and simply ignore the rest!!

The oxygen man will be here in a few minutes to bring my oxygen set-up for my sleeping hours. As one cub stated, if an intruder came into our bedroom at night and saw the Alien with his mask and me with mine, they would run. See there is always something to be thankful for! Except I find it really hard to be thankful for cowards. Even if she is (was) an excellent physician.

One thing about it, I can no longer threaten to huff and puff and blow the house down! And if this is to boring, there are always crossword puzzles, hee hee

Wonderful Day

Today is such a blessing. It is slightly overcast, not to hot yet, the cub's ankle was well enough to go to school and the other cub has had several wonderful days. He may come over and eat supper with us tonight. I tempted him with roast, potatoes and gravy. Besides, it would be nice to have him here to watch the Monday night football game. We make it fine unless Greenbay (his team) and mine (Dallas Cowboys) are playing. Then trouble may be expected, lol.

The Alien took Friday off and we spent the weekend working around the house and yard. He almost got the deck cleaned and restained. We finally gave up and he went to Wally World and got a power washer and from that minute on he was a regular menace. He had so much fun I think he cleaned everything in the back yard including the dogs, lol

Yesterday was a busy but fun day. We went to Sunday School and Church. I took refreshments for our Sunday School class (blueberry muffins, apple cinnamon muffins, dream bars and a bowl of strawberries, bananas, grapes and pineapple.) Jeff came to both so we got to enjoy his company as well as all our friends. Of course, they all had to come meet him and I think he even got some hugs! Then last night our small group met and we had another wonderful fellowship. I took rice krispie treats to that one. Our group has volunteered to feed the college kids that come to the Ztree (Church bible chair) one night a week for the next four months. Our first night is Wednesday and we are planning on about 60. Very simple menu though, hot dogs, chips, dips, drinks and dessert. Then our group also does the silent auction for the Compassion Outreach Center. It is to help raise money to buy the medications, etc for people who can't afford it otherwise. Last year was our first year to be involved with it and it was lots of fun. So we have lots of things going on and to look forward to.

Looking a little further ahead, we are hoping all get to come Xmas. Do we have a status on this yet?

Got to go, Casper has to go to the vet. He has a very bad sore on his back. Boy does this poor dog ever have allergy problems.

Memories

I have been reading some posts lately that bring back memories.

The post about the boiling water reminded me of my younger sister's daughter. She recently married and moved of state. Each night about dinner time her Mom would get a phone call requesting information on how to cook certain items. The one that I thought hysterical was the one about boiling eggs. Her call went something like this, "Mom, how in the world do you boil eggs?" My sister replied, well you cover them with cold water and put them on medium heat and boil until desired firmness. To this, the niece replied, "Oh, that is the problem, I have been getting the water boiling and then "dropping" in the eggs and ever time they just busted". I have gone through at least a dozen eggs doing that.

Even for us, yesterday was an unusual day. Lots of unexpected things seemed to keep popping up. My day started very early when I felt something jump on the bed beside me. Since I didn't feel anything move, I thought I was dreaming. I guess I need to back up a bit, I had touched up the paint in the hall and foyer and so didn't put the gate across. Yep, Frosty had sneaked into our bedroom and got in bed with us. Next, our Cub was going out to meet the bus and she fell in the kitchen. (No more flip flops for her) EVER. Anyway, she went on to school and by the time she got home, her ankle was really swollen. Her Dad took her to the ER and she has torn ligaments in her ankle. She is off her feet for two days, icing, anti-inflammatory, etc. and on crutches. The crutches will be needed for at least two weeks. The ER said she was the fifth youngster with a hurt ankle that day. Then our son, G, in East T needed some help. I had to find a counselor for him and make an appt for him and hopefully it will give him some help. His thyroid is really messed up and he just got on medication for that so things will work out there. His Dad offered to go down if he needed him but he felt like it wouldn't be necessary right now.

We are having gorgeous weather here. It is in the 80's and there usually is a little breeze. We will be closing the pool soon. Seems like it has been a short summer.

I have been busy. I've rearranged the living room five times in the last week and it is all that Indian, Cheyenne's, fault. The Alien didn't like him on the fireplace so I moved him to his very own table. Of course that put everything out of "kilter" so I think I have finally got it acceptable. It was quite amusing though if you could have seen the look on the Alien's face when he came home one night to see his "Corner" had been secluded with a screen. I assured him that now he could rest since I would not be hounding him to clean up all his clutter because I couldn't see it. Not sure he bought that totally.

Remember the good old days when you called a new doctor and they would take you if you had "insurance"? Well, times are a changing. My doctor retired and nobody else wants me when they hear all my medications and health issues. I did finally find one though (good thing since it was the last one) and so I go in two weeks sure hope he doesn't expel me after one visit.

B isn't doing to well. The Pacemaker is not working as his heart's condition was to bad. He is just doing the best he can and has a wonderful attitude. Keep them in your prayers.

Well, I have two crock pots on to cook. One for the furry boys and one for us. Hopefully, I won't get them mixed up although they usually eat better than we do. Ours is a turkey breast and theirs is chicken. I guess we could pick and choose.

Have any of you done any research on salt lamps? I am seriously thinking of getting one to try and see if they really work. The salt supposedly is from the Himalayans and it is healthy for people with breathing problems.

Thanks for the visit.
